The LandsEnd.com engineering team has an immediate need for an experienced, junior Front End Web Developer who can deliver immediately deliver our user experience vision, improve and enhance existing solutions, and grow into a valued asset as a developer and team leader.
In this role, you will be responsible for the functional and structural construction of the visual presentation including: UI/UX recommendations, technical design and development, delivery, test, and deploy of front end code as part of the LandsEnd.com Engineering team
Responsibilities
Deliver strong UI/UX recommendations - This role will act as a sounding board for the industry proven and innovative standards to create powerful user experiences.
Technical design and development - This role will be responsible for the independent creation of technical solutions and design, and delivering that solution through documentation and code.
Delivery, test, and deploy - This role is a member of an integrated agile team, and will be the steward of their work product throughout all stages of the delivery process.
Inspire creative and business team with best in class web experiences that are created with tried, trusted, and tested web development techniques and practices.
With direction from the Lead Engineer and in partnership with the Front End engineering team, assess and recommend improvements to the existing infrastructure. Position LandsEnd.com for success on current and future technologies.
With direction from the Lead Engineer and in partnership with the Front End engineering team, assess and recommend solutions to deliver a powerful user experience across multiple modern platforms, including desktop, tablet, handset, TV, interactive and wearable devices, and whatever comes next.
Present ideas for improvements based on business and technical understanding.
Act as a bellwether for new and innovative web, mobile, and e-commerce technologies.
Skills/Requirements
Experience in and passion for web development and design.
Bachelor's degree in a computer-related field or equivalent experience and 2
years of proven technical experience in a front end development role.
A strong understanding of modern front end and web programming languages - to include HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, JavaScript Frameworks (jQuery, Grunt, Angular), and Velocity Templates.
Demonstrates strong working knowledge of development support environments, including IDE, compilers, orchestrators, test scanners, and the systems on which they reside.
Comfortable working in nix, OSX, and Windows end-user, server, and terminal environments.
The ability to work with and within a full-stack server environment to ensure your changes execute effectively, including JSP, Apache, and Tomcat.
Experience with modern unit and functional testing frameworks to test and support the testing of your code and the system as a whole.
Proven ability to recognize and improve the holistic system, presenting and delivering methods to optimizing the entire platform over time and outside your immediate tasks.
Experience or strong passion for executing in an agile development environment.
Experience or strong passion for multi-platform (desktop/mobile) delivery of common content.
Regularly delivers unique, innovative, and efficient solutions to business and technical problems.
Proven ability to deliver effective, on-time results from an established set of tasks.
Ability to communicate complex web experiences to individuals and groups of wide backgrounds and experiences.
Demonstrates excellent written and oral presentation skills.
(Preferred): An interest in learning and assuming team leadership roles, particularly within agile frameworks.
(Preferred): Experience with Open Source tools (Git, Jenkins).Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
