Merchandise discounts on Lands' End products Our internship program is designed with future leaders in mind and serves as a pipeline for top talent. Participants in our program receive one-on-one mentorship while working alongside seasoned designers to develop Lands' End product - bringing concepts to life. By providing color, fabrication, silhouettes and trend ideas you will share your recommendations and support visual set up and presentation to convey the design vision. Through trend analysis and market research, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining design books and journals. You will quickly come to appreciate the complexities of growing a global, multi-channel retailer.
The Intern experience at Lands' End is a comprehensive development-based role, designed to facilitate a robust Visual Merchandising career path. Interns will be immersed in the various functions of the business that contribute to the broader scope of the Visual Merchandising model, gaining valuable hands-on experience in skill competency areas.
Responsibilities include:
Own a category within the retail Fall & Outerwear floor sets & Assist Visual Managers with day to day responsibilities
Responsible for assisting/ building Visual Merchandising binder pages of their category in InDesign, routing to appropriate Visual Manager for edits and ultimately supplying electronic files to printer for publishing.
Partner with retail merchants and assistants to outline/ update merchandise for each floor set:
Attend weekly cross-functional meetings with merchants, planning and allocation.
Review weekly updates to line plans to ensure all samples are correct throughout each floor set.
Troubleshoot any known issues: dropped styles, late styles, missing samples
Partner with signing team and accessorization
Attend signing meetings to ensure all signing needs are covered
Attend accessorization open houses to understand key looks and be sure retail signs reflect/ represent correct samples
Collaborate with Merchants to interpret the design and merchandising vision of the season and support marketing presentations across channels in their category.
Successful Visual Merchandising candidates should have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
Strong industry knowledge and passion for the Lands' End brand.
Passion for visual merchandising, display, current fashion and emerging trends.
Instinct and passion for product and design, great product (taste level), and a strong product point of view.
Customer-focused, results driven, analytical.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, work independently, but also as a team player.
Strong computer skills, with the confidence and ability to quickly learn and utilize Lands' End specific programs.
Strong working knowledge of digital photography, downloading photos, and organizing files and folders on the computer.
Knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Excel and Word
Innovative, critical thinker with the ability to continuously operate strategically and work cross-functionally.
Strong leadership skills and communication skills, proven relationship builder.
Working toward a degree in visual merchandising, retail, merchandising or a related fieldEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
